Class descriptions:
Beginners
(Pre-Alpha)
Beginner students work on forward and backward swizzles, backward
wiggles, and 2-foot and 1-foot glides. Anyone over 5 who has never taken
classes should start in a beginner class.
Alpha
Once you have passed Pre-Alpha,
you move to Alpha and learn forward stroking, forward crossovers in both
directions, and a snowplow stop.
Beta
Students who have passes Alpha
now work on backward stroking, backward crossovers in both directions, plus a
T-stop with each foot.
Gamma
Students who have passed Beta move on to work on two different kinds
of turns (forward outside edge 3-turns and inside mohawks), as well as a hockey
stop.
Delta
This is the last basic level. Students work on inside edge 3-turns,
forward edges, bunny hops, lunges, and shoot-the-ducks.
Class Benefits:
EXTRA PRACTICE TIME EACH CLASS
DAY: Students receive 90 minutes of ice time, including a half-hour class.
Parents and siblings may skate during this time for $ 3.50 per person.
PUBLIC SESSION ADMISSION: One-week sessions: Students may skate the
afternoon public session each day their classes are held. Eight-week
session: Students may attend one public session per week during the
session. Students must check in at the counter before skating.
STROKING
CLASS FOR ALPHA-DELTA: Summer Special! Students in Alpha--Delta classes
may also attend stroking classes on Thursday nights and Saturday afternoons.
This class builds endurance in your skating and helps prepare you to be a
stronger skater. Stroking is included in the price of these lessons.

FEES -- included in all basic class prices!
SKATE RENTAL - included.

& swizzle" t-shirt!

Lessons
Private
lessons are available to all students enrolled in classes to help skaters work
on specific skills or to prepare a program for a test or a competition. They
are purchased in the form of coupons which you present to your instructor at
the time of your lesson. Private lessons consist of a 20-minute lesson with the
teacher of your choice during Freestyle practices or slow public sessions, the
ice time for which must be paid for
separately.

Covers five
public skating sessions. As an alternative, join the Ice Chalet Skating

Private
Lessons
Private
lessons are available to all students enrolled in classes to help skaters work

Lodging
Students from out of town are welcome to
stay with a local family. Contact the Skating School Director or the Manager for more information about lodging with someone or hosting a visitor.
About the Ice Chalet: The Ice Chalet's ice surface is 75' by 175'. All floors are covered
with rubber matting. Average temperature in the rink is 50 degrees. We have
vending machines stocked with snacks and drinks, and several restaurants are
within walking distance. We also have a Pro Shop with a large inventory of
boots and blades. Professional skate sharpening is available.
